This house was featured on one of the very first episodes of the series 'Sightings.' It is also featured in the book, 'Haunted America.' by Michael Norman.

I interviewed the owners... they were very cooperative and gave me detailed information about the paranormal activity. The address and names are withheld by their request.

On December 23, 1973, a murder occurred on the premises. A husband shot and killed his wife, then turned the weapon on himself as the children slept upstairs. Phenomena occurs throughout the house: images of a man and, at other times a woman, have been observed. The wife of the house stated that her husband has walked into rooms and stepped right into a mist which, of course, left him feeling rather distraught.

When the children were younger, they could see these ghostly images on a daily basis. For therapeutic reasons, the mother gave the youngest daughter a spray bottle of lilac scented water, and instructed the child to spray the images to make them go away. The children have grown and do not see these sites as often, but they still occur from time to time. The father had the last sighting which occurred about three months ago.

The mother states that the last paranormal experience she had was appx. 6 months ago. She had been planning on painting the living room and had evaluated the ceiling, noting that the present paint was so thin that she could see a layer of gray under it. A few days later, she again examined the ceiling of the living room and noticed what appeared to be smudge marks of sorts, made by what appeared to be fingertips of a hand. The lines were long as if an outstretched hand had ran across the ceiling. The marks stayed there.... she told me she wished she had had them evaluated to see if they were possibly composed of dried blood.

The children who were originally there, upstairs, when the murder/suicide occurred, heard about the sightings show and contacted the owners. They came to the house and noted that the present couch looked very much like the one they had and was located in the same area where theirs had been, (the father fell to the couch after the incident.) A wealth of information was passed to the present owners. They know a lot more about these 'spirits' than they used to, but it hasn't slowed the phenomena down. The activity continues into the present without an apparent end.
